On our recent whitewater kayaking trip to Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center, we stayed two nights at the Valley River RV Resort in Marble, NC. We had read some not-so-good reviews on TripAdvisor, so we decided to drive through it before staying there. The reviews, it seems, were written while construction was going on so some people may have had legitimate complaints. When we drove through, however, the place looked neat and clean, so we booked the two nights.
These are some of the amenities offered by the RV Resort:
Paved roads and Concrete sites – we have been to RV parks where the roads were not paved and/or the pads were gravel or dirt. It was really nice to have a concrete pad – no leveling required! The RV sites can accommodate any size trailer or RV, including monster Class A vehicles.
Clean Laundry, Bathrooms and Showers – The bathrooms were tiled and clean, had hot water in the sinks (not always the case at some RV parks), soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers. They were also air-conditioned. Here’s the best part – the laundry machines took credit cards! At long last. I am tired of hauling around packets of quarters. Not only that, the dryers gave you plenty of run time to get your load done.
Free WIFI and Cable TV – Lots of places give you free WIFI, but some charge you more if you want to stream videos or connect to more one device. Also, the signal at some places is pretty weak. Not at Valley River. The signal was strong, we could connect our ROKU TV, our laptops and our phones for no extra charge, and the signal was very strong. The Cable TV signal, also unlike some places, was strong and we go a lot of channels.
Luxury clubhouse – When I say “luxury,” I’m not kidding. It would be a great place to meet friends or business associates. The picture says it all.
Other Amenities – There is a well-maintained swimming pool, a small private lake for catch-and-release fishing, “dog poop” dispensers and trash cans (always nice), and a shuttle to and from the nearby Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino. I think a lot of the RVers in the park stayed there because of the proximity to the casino. Last, but certainly not least when you are traveling with two dogs, there is a pet washing station.
So, ignore the TripAdvisor reviews. I recommend this RV Park.
