Introduction
Like the Velvet Athletics Hammered paddle, the Crushed paddle bears the signature of Chip Parmelly. Who, I wondered, is Chip Parmelly? At the risk of repeating what I wrote in my review of the Hammered paddle, I can tell yu that Chip was the 2023 gold medalist at the US Open Pickleball Championships in the 4.0 singles category for wheelchair pickleball.
Mr. Parmelly used the Hammered paddle in the US Open Championships, and the Crushed is an upgrade in terms of power. How powerful is it? When I had the first opportunity to put away an opponent’s lob, I thought the sound the paddle made was like that of a gunshot. I’m not kidding. It was astonishingly loud. This paddle has a lot of power!

Performance
Performance
The Crushed paddle is just as responsive as the Hammered paddle, but provides more power and more spin. Side spin, underspin and topspin shots are easy to perform with the Crushed paddle.

Bottom line
Bottom Line
I recommend the Crushed paddle for intermediate and advanced players, especially those who want to add power to their game. Its strength lies in control and shot placement, with no significant drawbacks noted. At $154.99, this paddle is a mid-range priced paddle and, in my opinion, a great bargain. Moreover, Velvet Athletics is offering a 15% discount with the code INTO15 on their website: Velvet Athletics Hammered Pickleball Paddle.
This paddle’s control and precision make it a valuable addition to any player’s gear, especially those starting or looking to improve their game.
