TMPR Nimbus Paddle Review

Introduction

TMPR Sports has released its latest high-performance model: the Nimbus.

This is a 16mm thermoformed paddle featuring TMPR’s new Cloud Weave face, which appears to be a blend of carbon fiber and aramid. This hybrid surface offers both durability and a textured feel, giving players excellent spin potential and enhanced ball feedback. The aramid component contributes to a lively response, adding just the right touch of power.

The Nimbus features a slightly elongated shape, a balanced weight (mine came in at 8.1 oz), and a generous 5.75″ handle—perfect for two-handed backhands or added leverage on ground strokes. My calculated sweet spot width is 23.7 mm, just above center—ideal for stability without sacrificing maneuverability. While I can’t provide precise twist weight, off-center shots feel stable, with very little paddle flutter.

Performance

UPDATE

My review so far was based on drilling with another player. I used the paddle for the first time in competition yesterday and discovered that it had two benefits – unexpected power, and great performance in firefights. In firefights, I only had to meet the ball to send it back at my opponent as fast as it came at me.

ANALYSIS WHEN DRILLING

On court, the Nimbus reminds me a lot of the Six Zero Black Diamond. It doesn’t overwhelm with raw power, but it offers enough to drive the ball effectively while keeping control at the forefront.

Dinks, drops, and resets feel soft and reliable right out of the box – no break-in period required. The paddle’s touch is excellent in the transition zone, and it performs especially well in hand battles at the net. From the baseline, it delivers consistent depth without overhitting.

Spin generation is where the Nimbus really shines. The Cloud Weave surface grips the ball well, letting you shape topspin drives and tricky cuts with confidence.

Final Thoughts

The Nimbus is a paddle for players who value feel and control, but don’t want to compromise on spin or stability. It strikes a smart balance between finesse and power, making it suitable for all-court players at intermediate and advanced levels.

At $200, it’s on the premium side—but well within the range of other thermoformed paddles. If you’re looking to save a bit, you can use code LUCKY10 or follow this link to get $10 off: https://tmprsports.com?aff=170
